- ➤ Utah’s average snowpack was 57% of the median on New Year’s Day (the lowest since the 1980s), with Weber-Ogden at 49% of normal. Forecasts indicate upcoming storms may boost mountain snow but deficits persist in several basins. KSL-TV

- ➤ Ogden saw more than 450 new apartment permits approved in 2025, with 1,275 affordable units planned and market-rate projects also under construction to meet low vacancy rates and high demand among local renters. KUER
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Jay Hill agreed to join Michigan as defensive coordinator, reuniting with former mentor Kyle Whittingham after 12 years. Several Utah assistants, including offensive coordinator Jason Beck, followed Whittingham & shifted the coaching setup at Utah. Standard-Examiner
- ➤ Portland State defeated Weber State 95-90 in overtime at the Dee Events Center on Jan. 1 as the game saw 16 lead changes and career-high scoring from Jaylin Henderson and Terri Miller Jr., while Weber State struggled from the free throw line.
