- ➤ Northern Utah Living outlines a range of events scheduled from Jan. 3-11, featuring racing, food tours, basketball games and art exhibits across Ogden and nearby communities. Residents can also enjoy fitness classes, family workshops and more during this active week. Standard-Examiner

- ➤ Fremont High girls basketball won an 80-28 region game Saturday at West Field as Abby Christensen scored 21 (9-2 record), while Clearfield and Northridge also posted wins at Bonneville and Layton, led by Ciara De La O and Maureen Pulu. Standard-Examiner
- ➤ North Ogden native Thomas 'Racer Tom' Hart (64) was certified by Guinness on Dec. 19 for breaking the record for the greatest vertical distance skiing downhill in one year at Snowbasin Resort. He said he does not plan to try beating this record again. Standard-Examiner
- ➤ At the Dee Events Center in Ogden on Saturday, Jan. 3, Weber State beat Sacramento State 95-82. Junior sharpshooter Viljami Vartiainen, back from a knee injury, hit six 3-pointers + scored 20 points to power the Wildcats to their highest conference score in five seasons. Standard-Examiner
- ➤ Roy High’s Boston Greenhalgh scored 37 points on Saturday, Jan. 3 in Layton—he helped lead his team to an 82-57 win over Northridge as the Royals improved to 10-3 overall. Standard-Examiner
- ➤ In Taylor on Saturday, Jan. 3, West Field won 79-65 over Fremont in its first-ever hardwood meeting; Daxton Laughter scored 26 points (15 in the second half) and played all 32 minutes to spark the win. Standard-Examiner
