- ➤ Officials from Ogden Police and Weber County Animal Services said 33 dogs were surrendered from a home after a Thursday search uncovered 11 adults and 24 puppies in excess of local limits (residents retained only two), and rescue groups are processing the animals. Standard-Examiner

- ➤ State officials shot three wolves on Jan. 9 in Cache County after the animals were seen near livestock. The move — part of a plan to keep wolf numbers in check in an area exempt from federal protections — is meant to prevent local breeding groups. The Salt Lake Tribune
