- ➤ A fire at a home on the 1700 block of Valley Drive on Thursday night displaced one person and caused about $120,000 in damage; fire crews responded promptly + the Red Cross is assisting the sole occupant while investigators examine the cause. Standard-Examiner
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Farmers and ranchers may soon lease water to help protect the Great Salt Lake as the Commission plans a new $5 million initiative that treats water as a commodity. Rep. Jill Koford of Ogden has introduced a companion bill, and the Utah Farm Bureau supports the effort. FOX 13 News

- ➤ Four Morgan High boys broke school records during a 40-point win against Grantsville on Wednesday night, advancing the Trojans to 18-2 & setting new milestones, as upcoming games at American Heritage on Feb.4 and at home against Ogden on Feb.6 will fuel their push for a region title.
