EDUCATION NEWS

  • A new report details salaries of Utah's public college and university presidents, with University of Utah President Taylor Randall earning over $1 million in base salary plus benefits. The breakdown covers leaders from eight institutions including Utah State, Utah Tech and Southern Utah.  The Salt Lake Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • SB201 awaits the governor's signature after passing in the legislature and could save over 1,000 animals each year by requiring shelters to check with rescue groups (a measure that may give many pets a second chance).  The Salt Lake Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hope Henderson delivered record-setting twins at an Ogden birth center on March 3 via water birth; Clay weighed 9 lb 4 oz and Leah 9 lb 6 oz, making them the heaviest twins ever recorded in Utah. Both babies are healthy and growing well.  Standard-Examiner

SPORTS NEWS

  • Ogden will host the World Men’s Curling Championship 2026 at the Weber County Ice Sheet starting Friday, March 27. Fans can enjoy free fan festivals with food trucks and curling demos (including floor curling) on both weekends.  Standard-Examiner
  • Weber High School lacrosse team paused social media this season to build stronger bonds and run a No Social Media A-Thon fundraiser, says coach Randy Allred. All 46 players have reported feeling more connected as they enjoy more outdoor time (including seniors and freshmen).  KSL-TV
  • Snowbasin Ski Resort will close early on Sunday, March 22 due to a warm winter and low snow levels, ending its season one month ahead of schedule. The resort plans to shift to summer recreation with a new mountain bike + trail-running program coming soon.  KSL-TV
  • Box Elder High boys lacrosse team dominated Roy on Friday, March 20 by adjusting warmups to beat unseasonable spring heat. Senior attacker Isaac Funk scored three goals early as the Bees won 21 — 6 in a strong Region 5 road game.  Standard-Examiner
