ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A boulder fell from the mountainside in Ogden Canyon on Sunday at 11:45 a.m. near milepost 10 of State Route 39 between Ogden and Huntsville, landing on an unoccupied pickup truck — causing extensive damage.  FOX 13 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Ogden City police arrested 18-year-old Edwin Sebastian Chavez on Saturday, March 30th for allegedly killing his juvenile girlfriend’s two kittens and assaulting her and her brother in their home—he is held without bail as investigations continue.  Gephardt Daily

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Utah added 31,900 new jobs over the past year and the unemployment rate held at 3.2% while 245 federal employees filed for unemployment insurance between February 15th and March 15th. State workforce official Jared Mendenhall said job growth occurred in education, health services, construction, and manufacturing.  KSL-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Protect Utah Workers coalition, made up of 14 unions, collected about 130,000 signatures from voters to overturn a controversial union bill that limits collective bargaining for public employees. They need nearly double by April 15 to meet state requirements—support now also comes from police and firefighter unions while a conservative group opposes the effort.  Standard-Examiner

  • Bryan Johnson, a longevity guru known for experimenting on his body to slow aging, faced backlash for using strict confidentiality agreements to control his business details—critics said his method was too controlling.
