- ➤ The Ogden Golden Veterans group, which meets every Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Golden Hours Senior Center, is looking for new members including active service members, veterans, and their partners. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Early Monday, a GasBuddy survey of 160 Ogden stations showed gas prices had risen 28.3 cents to $4.15 per gallon, which is 145.9 cents above last month and $1.09 more than last year. Standard-Examiner
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Tuition and fees for fall will rise by an average of 2.82% as Utah colleges work to cover higher costs for fuel, sports and faculty salaries. The increase will affect students statewide, including those in programs near Ogden. The Salt Lake Tribune
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ University of Utah scientists have found a freshwater reservoir under the Great Salt Lake between Antelope Island and Farmington Bay while studying dust from the exposed lake bed. They will study the reservoir further to see if it can help reduce toxic dust for nearby communities (research published online). FOX 13 News
- ➤ Researchers at the University of Utah reported that freshwater stored in wet rock and sand (beneath Farmington Bay) is not a viable option to meet long-term water needs while its pressurized flow helps reduce dust on exposed lakebeds. FOX 13 News
