  • The Utah Department of Transportation warned the public today about scammers sending texts and calls that use UDOT’s full name and claim unpaid toll balances with links that say utah.gov — people are advised to block these messages and contact their bank if a payment was mistakenly made.  KSL-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ogden’s April First Friday Art Stroll will feature an exhibit displaying clothing worn by survivors as part of the What Were You Wearing? campaign from Ogden’s YCC Family Crisis Center, with the exhibit open throughout April in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Lene’ Marie Chocolates will debut a chocolate painting feature where visitors can paint a chocolate tree and enjoy treats from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday — the event offers a mix of reflective art and creative fun.  Standard-Examiner

  • Gov. Spencer Cox signed a bill last week that bans surprise billing for ground ambulances — setting new maximum fees to protect patients; the law will take effect early next month. This measure makes Utah the 19th state to adopt such protections.  FOX 13 News
  • Gov. Spencer Cox vetoed a bill that would have let Utah pay vendors in gold, halting moves to integrate the precious metal into state transactions. A conservative group urged lawmakers on the weekend to overturn the veto—arguing that Utahns deserve the option as the state already bought significant gold and a donor covered the bid process cost.  The Salt Lake Tribune
