- ➤ Historic 25th Street earned national recognition by placing third in USA Today's 10Best Reader’s Choice Awards Best Main Street category on Wednesday, with Emporia finishing second and Bethlehem taking first. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Weber State is starting a new tuition plan that freezes prices for associate degree students with less than 60 credits, which will save them about $70 this summer so students like nursing student Lynzi Hallett can work fewer jobs. The plan got unanimous approval at tuition hearings and has drawn interest from state lawmakers plus praise from the higher education commissioner. The Salt Lake Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Eight international students from Utah universities and the ACLU filed a lawsuit in federal court in Salt Lake City last Friday — accusing the U.S. Department of Homeland Security of revoking their SEVIS registrations without proper due process. They asked a judge to reinstate the registrations so the students can continue their studies. FOX 13 News
- ➤ A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit from nine plaintiffs seeking the return of hundreds of thousands in tithing donations to the church, ruling that the case is time-barred. The decision, delivered on Thursday (the plaintiffs can no longer refile their claims), marks another legal win for the church. KSL-TV
