  • Goldman Sachs announced that rural small business owners in Utah can apply for its $100M program to receive education and loans via a 12-week course + applications are open through July 16th. The first program cohort will begin in October + the initiative builds on successes from urban trials that boosted job growth and revenue.  KSL-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Roy City Police said that at about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, 11-year-old Jayson Strong was struck by a driver who ran a red light while he was crossing 1900 West and 4400 South near his home in Roy—he was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital in stable condition, and the driver was later taken into ICE custody on unrelated charges.  Gephardt Daily

  • Talia Keys released her new album 'From The Ashes' that shows deep grief and powerful resolve. The vinyl is for sale at Lavender Vinyl in Ogden — the album will hit digital platforms on May 30.  The Ogdenite

SPORTS NEWS

  • North Ogden’s Thomas 'Racer Tom' Hart broke his Guinness skiing record last season by skiing 8,513,340 feet and now aims to reach 10 million vertical feet by May 31. As of April 17, he had skied 8,232,320 feet at Snowbasin Resort — a milestone he will build on by skiing at other resorts until they close.  Standard-Examiner
  • Tijan Saine, a former walk-on at Western Washington, earned first-team all-conference honors and committed to Weber State on April 10 after receiving calls from multiple schools. He described his breakout season as electric and said he will focus his offseason work on improving his shooting and overall game as he joins Weber State’s guard line—becoming one of only two transfers signed.  Standard-Examiner
  • Weber State softball won a road series at Sacramento State by splitting a Friday doubleheader and winning a Saturday rubber match to tie with the Hornets for second place in Big Sky play. The Wildcats will close conference play at home April 25-26 against Northern Colorado — they may need a three-game sweep for a tournament bye.  Standard-Examiner
