COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Several dogs rescued from an Ogden hoarder’s home are now ready for adoption after over 150 dogs were moved to shelters, with the Humane Society taking in 45 and only one dog not surviving. A local business owner will host a donation and adoption event at Scooter’s Coffee on April 27 + the event will include a raffle and thank you cards for shelter volunteers.  KSL-TV
  • The Ogden Nature Center will mark its 50th anniversary on Saturday from 11 a.m.+4 p.m. at 966 W 12th St. in Ogden with live music, art exhibits, a birdhouse contest, and a special celebration for Sampson’s 33rd birthday. The center, which covers 152 acres and reaches 50,000 visitors a year, will offer free admission+complimentary cupcakes while supplies last.  Gephardt Daily

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews from the Ogden City Fire Department and Weber Fire District responded quickly to a fire on the 1000 block of Second Street on April 24 — they contained flames to the home's main level, cleared all residents, and began an investigation with damage estimated at $300,000.  Standard-Examiner

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Utah’s school choice program will continue until the Utah Supreme Court rules on its constitutionality—after a judge declared it unconstitutional today—as state officials and the Utah Education Association agreed to keep public funds in place. The program remains active—allowing families uninterrupted study—through the May 1 application deadline, and a final ruling on certain claims is expected by May 15.  Standard-Examiner
