- ➤ The Utah Supreme Court ordered a new trial for death row inmate Douglas Stewart Carter—convicted for the 1985 murder of Eva Olesen in Provo—after a judge found that police and prosecutorial misconduct, including a coerced confession and suppressed evidence, violated his constitutional rights. - ➤ Police responded at 2:30 p.m. May 15 after a report of a stabbing at Greenhill Apartments in Riverdale and found a woman with multiple stab wounds before apprehending a male suspect who fled through a window—authorities have withheld the victim's identity pending next of kin notification. - ➤ A 34-year-old woman died after an apparent stabbing at the Greenhill at Riverdale apartments near 4189 S. West on May 15 when Riverdale Police responded around 2:30 p.m. and later arrested a 39-year-old male suspect—police say there is no direct threat to the community. Gephardt Daily
