COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A memorial display called Operation Hero honors fallen service members at Union Station with over 400 boots from 2001 onward. Local staff maintain the tribute to remind visitors of the sacrifices made, especially on Memorial Day.  FOX 13 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Spencer J. Cox has ordered the US and Utah flags to fly at half-staff at all state facilities to honor Memorial Day. The flags will be lowered at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, May 25 and raised at noon, and the governor invites private citizens and organizations to join the tribute.  Standard-Examiner
  • Gov Spencer Cox declared a drought emergency last Thursday after record warmth and low snowpack dropped reservoir levels to about 70%, opening federal funding for farmers and urging water conservation among homeowners. Local water districts have already set limits on outdoor watering to help manage supplies.  Standard-Examiner
