EDUCATION NEWS

  • Weber State University announced that free summer programs Arts in the Parks & Science in the Parks will return for children this summer, aligning with Ogden School District’s free lunch program. Arts in the Parks will begin Monday, June 2 at Lorin Farr Park & Science in the Parks will start June 9 at select parks with activities held from noon to 1 p.m.  Standard-Examiner

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Utahns reacted to a U.S. Supreme Court decision that removed legal protections for humanitarian parole immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, raising fears that more than 500,000 could face deportation. Local immigration lawyers said they will help affected parolees apply for asylum as the case continues.  KSL-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Joe Jarvis filed the Utah Cares Act last month, a ballot initiative that would create a single health care plan for all and replace employer coverage with a new business tax up to 2.85%. Supporters will hold town hall meetings and gather signatures for the 2026 ballot—state officials say the plan is short by $8 billion—while they work to prove its funding can be secured.  FOX 13 News
