Good morning, Ogden. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 10th of June.

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fires broke out in South Weber on Sunday at about 8:30 p.m. near Interstate 84 and in West Haven’s Prevedel Park on Friday—local crews contained a 2-acre brush fire and a 5-acre grass fire, evacuated four campers from the park, and reported no injuries or structural damage while warning residents to handle open flames carefully.  Standard-Examiner

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Data shows that in the first eight months of Utah Fits All, families spent $61.5 million through over 180,000 transactions with more than 7,300 vendors, with most funds used for academic needs such as private school tuition and online purchases. Lawmakers passed HB455—new rules with spending limits and tiered awards—to address concerns when purchases like boat tours and trampolines were reported as not meeting the program’s educational purpose.  The Salt Lake Tribune

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Ogden Valley officials euthanized a two-year-old female black bear that repeatedly tried to enter homes after receiving nine calls—local residents reported sightings near a cabin, the Alaskan Inn, and garbage cans, and the bear was located with the help of a search and rescue drone and Weber County Sheriff’s Deputies.  KSL-TV
  • Max Roth from FOX 13 visited the South Fork of the Ogden River to check four water indicators: snow levels, river flow, reservoir storage, and soil moisture. He found the river now flows at 72.3 cubic feet per second compared to 200 a year ago—while reservoirs remain nearly full and soil moisture is low, signaling drought stress in northern Utah.  FOX 13 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Utah will raise fees for its online court filing system, Xchange, effective July 1—search fees will rise from $0.15 to $0.35, document downloads will double to $1, and guest account fees will double from $5 to $10 while the $40 monthly subscription remains unchanged. The fee increases aim to offset a growing operating deficit—low-income users can still access records in person at a lower cost.  KSL-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • On May 31, children aged 3 to 10 with Type 1 diabetes and their families gathered at Weber State University for a free day camp that offered rock wall climbing, games and crafts while giving tools to manage the disease — part of the REACH Weber program. This weekend, teens and tweens with Type 1 diabetes will meet for their own event before a four-day summer camp in August.  Standard-Examiner
