- ➤ Ogden police said video shows individuals setting off illegal fireworks in Ogden Canyon that sparked a fire destroying a home on 9th Street—and authorities plan increased patrols and may charge those responsible under city ordinance. KSL-TV

- ➤ Ogden City’s Mayor Ben Nadolski forwarded Deputy Fire Chief Mike Slater’s nomination to the City Council to replace Chief Mike Mathieu, who retires on July 15—Slater has risen through the ranks since 1997 and will have his appointment discussed at the upcoming meeting. Standard-Examiner
- ➤ A judge ruled on June 5 that the Utah School Boards Association must open its records under state law because it collects fees with taxpayer money—forcing the nonprofit, which has advised school boards for 93 years, to reveal its spending. The decision may lead to an appeal that could delay the release of details showing how much was paid by local districts over the past 10 years. The Salt Lake Tribune
