Good morning, Ogden.
The 46th annual Lindquist Family Symphony Pops Concert and Fireworks will take place on Sunday, July 13 at Weber State University with an hour-long concert starting at 9 p.m. and a fireworks display around 10 p.m.—food trucks, free shuttle rides, and limited parking will be available for attendees.
The 70th Miss Rodeo Utah Pageant will take place during Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo with events held from July 19 to 24 that include horsemanship rounds, public speaking, interviews and a fashion show.
Organizers will honor about 30 former title holders — and the winning contestant will represent Utah at Miss Rodeo America — marking a milestone for the pageant's legacy.
Today, the Lavender Festival begins at Lavender Apple Farm in Millville and runs through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.—it will feature over 30 local vendors, live music, pony rides, and lavender lemonade while building on last year’s turnout of around 10,000 visitors.
A special booth will also help raise funds for small business loans through local initiatives.
Willard Bay’s water level is being lowered as the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District prepares to replace corroded steel siphon pipes.
The repair work will start Aug. 1 and cost about $8 million—boaters are advised to avoid the southwest corner during repairs.
The Utah Public Service Commission will not reconsider its April decision to raise Rocky Mountain Power's electricity rates, saying the utility's request was offensive and that Utah customers should not pay for costs from other states — the utility filed an appeal petition with the Utah Supreme Court and said its revised request was prudent and reasonable.
