Good morning, Ogden.

Gov. Spencer Cox’s Fentanyl Task Force reported record busts with 4.7 million pills seized plus a 1.5% drop in overdose deaths in 2024, and state and local police plan to exceed last year’s figures while enforcing a new law that will impose harsh penalties on traffickers.

The Salt Lake County Attorney's Office declined to file sexual assault charges against four Roy police officers involved in an incident at Snowbird Mountain Resort on May 14 — the decision came after a review showed there was insufficient evidence to prove the officers knew or should have known the alleged victim could not consent.

Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson returned from a state-sponsored visit to the United Kingdom where she examined small modular reactors and said Utah must begin planning for new nuclear power methods suited for arid conditions.

She stressed that work on site preparation, regulatory reform and permitting must start now to build an energy supply chain for growing demands.

Utah Jazz summer league standout Kyle Filipowski scored 35 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the team's 91-89 overtime loss to the Spurs — his versatile play has raised questions about a starting role next season.

John Tonje made his debut with 16 points while Elijah Harkless impressed by drawing screens to secure offensive fouls.
