- ➤ Ogden's Pioneer Days Rodeo kicked off Friday at Spencer Fox Eccles Pioneer Stadium with rodeo events drawing fans to bull riding, saddle bronc riding and other competitions—spectators enjoyed digital scoreboards, live music and drone shows. The arena upgrades include new box seats and additional improvements while the rodeo will continue daily with specialty events until Pioneer Day on Thursday—tickets range from $20 to $120. - ➤ A 34-year-old woman, reported on Sunday for loitering, was arrested after a physical altercation with an Ogden City police officer in which she resisted orders and fought back, breaking the officer’s ankle—she now faces multiple charges and is held at Weber County jail. Gephardt Daily
- ➤ On Monday evening, fire crews answered reports of a blaze at an abandoned assisted living facility at the 900 block of Monroe Boulevard (damage was estimated at $700,000) while firefighters worked from the outside to keep the fire from spreading (witnesses saw three juveniles fleeing as investigators follow leads on two suspects). - ➤ Two Weber State seniors—offensive lineman Gavin Ortega and fullback Colter May—received votes for the preseason Big Sky all-conference football team during media voting at the Big Sky Kickoff in Spokane.
