  • TAB Bank will host the 24th Annual Ogden Rescue Mission Charity Golf Tournament on Sept. 5 at Wolf Creek Resort to raise $40,000 for homelessness services that have raised $570,000 since 2001, while AAA Utah said gas prices remain steady at $3.34 a gallon. Representatives Moore and Schneider introduced a bill to fight counterfeit imports & Ensign College announced Fall scholarships to boost affordable college access for students.  Standard-Examiner

  • The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is seeking public feedback on updates to bighorn sheep and mountain goat management plans during public meetings in August and September — including a Northern Utah RAC meeting in Ogden on August 27 at 6 p.m. in the Weber County Commission chambers — as the agency works to update strategies such as potential reintroductions to Fremont Island.  Standard-Examiner

  • Officials note an increase in summer search and rescue calls as more residents explore remote areas without cell service—iPhones 14 and up now offer satellite texting and search vehicles use Starlink to help. The county advises carrying simple tools like a whistle or GPS tracker and letting someone know your plans for added safety.  FOX 13 News
  • Utah Attorney General Derek Brown joined a nationwide coalition of 51 attorneys general led by North Carolina to crack down on robocalls by sending letters this week to 37 companies not meeting federal rules—warned to comply quickly or face litigation. He also advised local residents to ignore unknown calls to avoid potential scams.  FOX 13 News
  • From July 29 to Aug. 4, city officials and Mayor Nadolski visited Hof, Germany to study shared economic and cultural challenges and boost their 71-year sister city tie. They will soon meet with the council to plan a joint resolution—aiming to expand cultural and student exchanges— and improve international engagement.  Standard-Examiner
  • Weber County is preparing for the Aug. 12 municipal primary election where residents in upper Ogden Valley, Ogden and nearby communities will vote for local offices following last year's incorporation vote. Clerk/Auditor Ricky Hatch said 11,301 ballots have been received (9,377 processed) and advised voters to submit ballots via drop box (or in person by 8 p.m. on Election Day) while maintaining strict security measures.  Standard-Examiner
