CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Ogden Mayor Ben Nadolski called recent structure fires a troubling trend after a fire destroyed a nearly completed apartment building on 18th Street late Friday—previous fires on August 3 at a townhome and today at an apartment building caused millions in damages—and officials are investigating possible arson with fire chief Mike Slater saying that new security measures have been added to construction sites. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Dispatchers at Weber and Morgan County 911 centers now use a new statewide system that shows the real-time location of all active air ambulances. The tool helps them quickly find the closest available helicopter — cutting minutes off response times for time-critical emergencies. KSL-TV
- ➤ The Utah Department of Transportation began replacing the 4400 South bridge over Interstate 15 and ramp bridges Monday and expects construction to last 10 months. 4400 South will be closed from 1600 West to Cozy Dale Drive until November with a six-week closure from Parker Drive beginning Aug 22 and I-15 will close overnight from Aug 23 to Aug 24 (drivers should use detours via 1900 West, Riverdale Road, and Cozy Dale Drive) while a public open house is scheduled on Aug 26 (from 5 to 7 p.m. at Riverdale Community Center).
