- ➤ The Salvation Army Ogden Corps is accepting applications for the new Silvercrest Senior Residence at 2655 Grant Avenue—a facility with 52 one-bedroom apartments and amenities for residents 62 and older that will open in October. Applications must be in by Aug. 22 and will be entered in a lottery to determine wait list position. Standard-Examiner
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Community Film Project is holding auditions for its production 'Murder at the Lufferton Christmas Musical' at Beverly’s Terrace Plaza Playhouse in Washington Terrace to give local talent a chance to join as actors and in production roles. Auditions end on August 16—call backs are on August 23 as filming is set to begin late September or early October and finish in December. Standard-Examiner

- ➤ During its Tuesday meeting, the Weber County Commission approved a new zoning district called the TN zone to rezone 550 acres for the Bennet master planned community near the Weber River so that subzones gradually increase density and require pedestrian bridges. The commission also approved a contract to raise indigent defense attorney fees and secure nearly $996,000 in state funding — local officials urged increased state support to avoid future tax hikes.
