COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ On Aug 14, representatives from Ogden City—together with partners Discover and KABOOM!—cut the ribbon on a new playground at Jaycee Park that local children helped design; 130 volunteers built the space in under six hours, and the city will open it early next week with added park improvements. - ➤ City leaders, law enforcement officials, and community members dedicated the Nathan J. Lyday Field House at the Marshall N. White Community Center on August 15, honoring the fallen officer and his legacy. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Fire officials said the North Ogden blaze called the Willard Peak Fire got its name from system rules because the best name was already in use—so its name does not match its location. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Utah officials said that some stores are selling synthesized 7-OH—an extract from kratom that is more addictive than the plant itself—in possible violation of the 2019 Kratom Consumer Protection Act, and the Department of Agriculture is asking Utahns to report such sales. The state is working to enforce the law while allowing plant-based kratom to remain available. KUER
