- ➤ Ogden nonprofit Give Me A Chance, run by the Daughters of Charity, named a new director, Sister Frances Vista, in June and is preparing for its 11th annual charity benefit. - ➤ A fire broke out at a two-story apartment on the 700 North block of Washington Boulevard in Ogden on Aug 20th and caused about $600K in damage while two residents suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation—firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze in about 10 minutes. Gephardt Daily

- ➤ Officials and family members in Tremonton met on Tuesday to honor Sgt. Lee Sorensen and Officer Eric Estrada, who were killed on Sunday during a domestic violence call when a high-powered rifle was used, and to note that Box Elder County Deputy Mike Allred and his K-9 Azula—both injured and now recovering—had surgery after the attack. - ➤ Campbell Scientific from Logan has installed weather sensors on Everest and Mount Aconcagua that now collect real-time data to help scientists study mountain weather and water supplies. - ➤ Congress passed the Big, Beautiful Bill this spring to bolster Social Security and Medicare trust funds by injecting $200 billion and $150 billion, capping Medicare Part D costs at $2,000, doubling the elderly care tax credit, and phasing in smoother premium increases—steps designed to help pre-retirees and retirees plan their budgets.
