- ➤ This summer, over 900 wildfires burned more than 160,000 acres across Utah as officials reported nearly two-thirds were started by human activity—mainly from vehicle sparks in dry conditions after a dry winter boosted extra vegetation. State agencies urged Utahns to follow fire safety tips and use wildfire preparedness resources to lower future risks. The Salt Lake Tribune
- ➤ Tribal leaders from the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation held a forum in Ogden yesterday to discuss reclaiming the Bear River massacre site by planting native vegetation and removing invasive Russian-Olive trees. They said the $13-million project will restore the ecosystem and send water to the Great Salt Lake in coming years. Standard-Examiner

- ➤ Ogden City Council reviewed hangar leasing policies during its Title 8 overhaul for Ogden-Hinckley Airport, discussing plans to shift day-to-day operations to Title 11 while keeping key rules under council oversight. The council held a work session on Tuesday and expects a draft ordinance for review before Oct. 31 — with a stakeholder meeting scheduled on Sept. 26. Standard-Examiner
