  • On Sept. 6, more than 300 volunteers from local military, police and community groups unfurled two large flags at Lindquist Field during an Ogden Raptors game for a symbolic ceremony by the Major Brent Taylor Foundation — Jennie Taylor led the effort and received a $5,000 donation from publisher Jim Konig.  Standard-Examiner

CRIME NEWS

  • Ogden police arrested 22-year-old Ralfo Gabriel Jr. Guajardo on Saturday morning for firing multiple rounds at a group in an apartment building—officers found seven shell casings and a blood trail that led to his capture, and he now faces felony firearm discharge and prohibited dangerous weapon conduct charges while held without bail.  FOX 13 News

  • Gov. Cox warned the GOP that voters felt ignored when lawmakers replaced the redistricting commission with an advisory group after a judge ruled the change broke the state constitution—he said the party risked losing trust if it did not listen to people.  Standard-Examiner

HEALTH NEWS

  • Baby Gia was born 37 weeks early at Cache Valley Hospital on Sept 3 in Logan, and the next day her grandfather Toby experienced sudden heart failure but was revived with CPR, four shocks, and a defibrillator implant at Ogden Regional Medical Center — he now recovers at home despite fractured ribs.  FOX 13 News

  • The Ogden Raptors won their fourth straight game with a 15—11 win over the Boise Hawks on Friday at Lindquist Field, clinching a playoff spot in the Pioneer Baseball League. They will face the Oakland Ballers in a best-of-three series starting Sept 11.  Standard-Examiner
  • Weber State volleyball rebounded from an opening sweep loss to win two matches at a tournament hosted by Utah Tech in St. George—improving their record to 5-1. They will play three matches Sept 12-13 at SEMO against Murray State, SEMO and Iowa.  Standard-Examiner
