CULTURE NEWS

  • Ogden City Arts and Union Station have invited local artists to submit works for the Community Art Show Patterns until Oct. 20 at 4 p.m.—the exhibition will open on Nov. 21 and run through Jan. 23 to showcase art that celebrates repetition and design.  Standard-Examiner

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Ogden City Police Department has recruited experienced officers from across the country and now has 153 officers in service. It will host a career fair on Sept. 23 from 4-6 p.m. to help reach its goal of 160 officers—crediting its achievement to a supportive culture known as The Ogden Way—while promising improved response times and community ties.  Standard-Examiner
  • The Utah Supreme Court will review the Legislature’s emergency request to pause a lower court ruling that invalidated the 2021 congressional maps. A district judge has updated her order so that lawmakers must draft new maps by Sept. 25 and file responses by Sept. 15—Lt. Gov. Henderson said the maps must be ready by Nov. 10 for the midterm elections.  KSL-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Pioneer Baseball League announced that the Grand Junction Jackalopes will move to a new city before the 2026 season—league president Mike Shapiro said that efforts to keep them in Grand Junction did not work out. The Ogden Raptors ended a 52-43 season as star Chris Sargent tied the league RBI lead with 130—local support was strong throughout the season.  Standard-Examiner
