COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The ninth Ogden Interfaith Concert returns at the Ogden Tabernacle on Sunday at 7 p.m. with local artists performing in a grassroots event—families are encouraged to donate canned goods for the Catholic Community Services Food Bank.  Standard-Examiner
  • Cardboard Exchange Expo returns to Ogden today at the Golden Spike Arena Exhibit Hall and continues through Sunday as 160 vendors offer trading cards, collectibles and 3D printed items—Jake Jarman, a well-known YouTube creator, will meet with attendees on Sunday.  Standard-Examiner
  • Farmers Market Ogden will host its first Dogden Festival on Saturday—local pups will take center stage in a parade, competitions, free swag, and an adoption event at Ogden Municipal Gardens until 1 p.m. The event is organized by the Ogden Downtown Alliance and Alphia to celebrate pets at the market, which is ending its summer season.  Standard-Examiner

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Utah Legislature asked the Supreme Court to halt the redrawing of congressional maps — saying a decision by Sept.15 could keep current district lines in place through 2028. The move challenges Judge Gibson's order for new maps following the reinstatement of Proposition 4 and may affect plans for the 2026 elections.  The Salt Lake Tribune
  • On Friday, Gov. Cox spoke at a news conference and announced that police had taken a suspect in Charlie Kirk’s killing—he urged everyone to choose a kinder, less violent path. His words stressed that political anger could lead to more harm—calling for unity over hate.  KUER

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Pioneer Baseball League is planning a team in Long Beach for 2026—through a naming contest and a revamp of Blair Field—and a new team at John Thurman Field in Modesto as the Modesto Nuts move to San Bernardino. Ogden Raptors team president Dave Baggott said his group remains interested in Cache County but has not received updates from Providence.  Standard-Examiner
  • Box Elder's football team beat Roy 49—14 on Sept. 12, giving them a 5—0 record after Korbin Jeppesen returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown that spurred six third-period scores. Judd Howells and Kadyn Reyes also added points as the Bees turned a slow first half into a dominating win.  Standard-Examiner
  • Friday, Davis High football beat Olympus 42-14 on the road—Tradon Bessinger threw 401 yards and six touchdowns while Bode Sparrow, Isaac Morrison and Makaio Byrd made key plays. Other prep teams posted wins as Ogden shut out Preston-ID 24-0 and Lehi beat Weber 42-8, and St. Joseph’s girls volleyball swept Altamont.  Standard-Examiner
