Good morning, Ogden. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 26th of September.

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Utah’s Homeless Services Board is set to consolidate the three Continua of Care councils—an effort linked to plans for a new $75 million homeless campus in Salt Lake that local advocates warn could take funds away from Ogden. Andi Beadles and others stress that losing local control may hurt community services—stakeholders will work with the board to fill these gaps before the 2026 legislative session.  KUER
  • Ogden will add a surf wave in the Weber River near Kayak Park to protect a sewer line under the downstream bridge—providing a new challenge for kayakers. The city has secured $1.7 million in grants and another $1.7 million from utility funds while a timeline for the project is still pending.  Standard-Examiner

SPORTS NEWS

  • Weber State's offense has struggled with turnovers and short-field drives in recent games against FCS opponents and is making changes with a new quarterback and revised offensive line. The Wildcats will try to play a full game when they face UC Davis in the Big Sky opener—hoping improved health and practice boost their performance.  Standard-Examiner
  • Fremont’s Silverwolves won their seventh straight match on Sept. 25 by defeating Clearfield in four sets with scores of 25 to 19, 25 to 18, 21 to 25 and 25 to 18 — six players reached double figures, with junior Olivia Surrage recording 14 kills and 14 digs as coach Mailoto noted the team stayed fresh.  Standard-Examiner
