- ➤ Ogden city officials say vandalism is a daily challenge in local parks as a full-time employee spends most of his time removing graffiti and fixing damaged facilities. City leaders are also working to improve access by rebuilding the Marshall N. White Community Center and repurposing a church for recreation — these upgrades aim to help families and youth. - ➤ Utah has vowed to keep its national parks open if a shutdown occurs in four days—state leaders will use funds to support the Mighty 5 while some services may be reduced. FOX 13 News

- ➤ Box Elder High won a region football game over Bonneville on Friday by a score of 60 to 27 as Judd Howells rushed for four touchdowns and the all-time series gap closed to one—Morgan beat Ben Lomond with six touchdowns and Ogden managed a lone score while local girls soccer and volleyball teams also finished their contests. - ➤ Utah Jazz players will wear a Frank Layden patch on their jerseys this season to honor the former coach, general manager and president who died July 9 at 93—players will begin wearing the patch in a preseason game against Houston on Oct. 8. The team will also add a number 1 circle patch during warm-ups to mark his unique legacy from his years coaching between 1981 and 1989. KUER
