BUSINESS NEWS

  • Utah, six other states and the FTC have sued Live Nation and Ticketmaster for hiding extra fees that make sports and concert tickets more expensive—alleging the companies secretly test buying screens that boost extra charges. The lawsuit says these pricing practices hurt ordinary fans by adding billions to their costs.  The Salt Lake Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fremont High School’s Turning Point USA group was denied curricular club status—its request seen as political by the Weber School District—and student leader Brigham Stander and his father appealed the decision, claiming the rules were enforced unfairly. The district said it is following state law and will apply guidelines consistently.  The Salt Lake Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Oct. 6, the Legislature passed SB1011 to set three tests for redistricting and clarify Proposition 4, and plaintiffs filed a court complaint saying the law is a wolf in sheep’s clothing—attorneys claim the tests may bake in a partisan advantage, and hearings will run through October to decide the future of congressional maps.  KUER
