- ➤ Ogden City is updating its long overdue general plan — community input has shaped the process and a public event is set for Nov. 20 at Union Station. Officials will hold Planning Commission hearings this winter and expect the City Council to adopt the plan by early 2026. Standard-Examiner
- ➤ Ogden City Council candidate Kevin Lundell said he wants to slow down rapid economic development so the city can spend more on parks, sidewalks and basic services. He criticized the WonderBlock tax package for its high cost to city revenue and said he will use social media to keep voters informed—ensuring that residents see a direct return on the city’s growth. - ➤ Plaintiffs filed a complaint on Tuesday alleging that lawmakers overstepped their power by passing SB1011 after voting on a congressional map, and they urged Judge Dianna Gibson to block the law as she picks a new map by Nov. 10—claiming it violates Proposition 4 by using an improper partisan test. - ➤ Plaintiffs in a redistricting lawsuit asked a judge to block a new law passed in special session today—saying the bill, SB1011, undermines the voter-approved independent redistricting rules of Proposition 4. The Legislature introduced a new congressional map and added three tests to review fairness, and a hearing on the injunction has not yet been scheduled. FOX 13 News

- ➤ Ogden Raptors catcher Chris Sargent was named Pioneer League MVP after breaking the RBI record with 130 RBIs in 80 games and having his contract purchased by the San Diego Padres. The Utah Mammoth hockey team will celebrate its home opener on Oct. 15 starting at 4 p.m. on the Delta Center outdoor plaza—USU men’s basketball also secured national TV slots including a home game on Jan. 31. - ➤ Box Elder senior Parker Lattin bounced back from an offseason injury to win his fourth race at the Region 5 cross country championships held at the Weber County Fairgrounds in Ogden on Oct. 8. He recorded the best time of 15:40.93 — his strong run helped his team finish in second place while he stays determined to improve his speed. Standard-Examiner
- ➤ Region 1 champion Syracuse earned a No. 2 seed and first-round bye after a loss to Weber Tuesday night—this means they will host the winner of Cedar Valley and Salt Lake Academy on Oct. 14. St. Joseph also received a first-round bye in the 2A bracket and will play the winner of Enterprise and American Prep at home on Oct. 15. Standard-Examiner
