- ➤ Weber State University reopened the David O. McKay Education Building on Friday after nearly two years of work that improved safety and added new spaces—like 13 classrooms, a digital media lab, and an outdoor play area. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Federal workers in Ogden are worried about feeding their families and paying bills as the government shutdown continues, with many not receiving paychecks since last Friday. Amy Nelson and her coworkers (from the National Treasury Employees Union) have started food pantries (stocked by a Davis County food bank) to help meet essential needs while they fear the shutdown could exceed the 2019 duration. - ➤ Chicago Blackhawks beat the Utah Mammoth 3-1 on Oct 13 when Andre Burakovsky scored a power-play goal that gave coach Jeff Blashill his first win. Utah played without defenseman Sean Durzi—expected to miss four weeks—and will host Calgary in their home opener on Wednesday. Standard-Examiner
