- ➤ With SNAP benefits halted, the Utah Food Bank said it cannot fill the monthly gap for 86,000 families who rely on food stamps and now serves 309 pantries across the state — as nearly 90,000 additional families may soon need help. - ➤ Today, Weber Innovation High School opens Second Flight Thrift, a student-run pop-up thrift store started by sophomore Hudson McFarland and Conner Newton. The store will serve students in the morning and open to the public from 3-6 p.m.—all proceeds will fund school programs. Standard-Examiner

- ➤ Gov. Spencer Cox announced a plan to raise the Great Salt Lake to a healthy 4,198 feet by the 2034 Winter Olympics—he shared his goal at Farmington Bay with business and community leaders. The effort includes two $100 million pledges and will require strong water saving and law changes—moves aimed at bringing the extra water needed to the lake. KSL-TV

- ➤ John 'Sandy' Friden, a cherished local physician and church leader, died on October 20 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
