  • Gina Cornia, director of Utahns Against Hunger, is in Washington, D.C. this week to urge lawmakers to release SNAP emergency funds before November as the government shutdown will stop new deposits on scheduled days; Becky Wickstrom from the Utah Department of Workforce Services said remaining card balances will still be usable after November 1—offering some relief for food stamp users.  FOX 13 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Weber State women’s soccer ended its regular season on Sunday with a 3-0 win over Idaho State when senior Grace Kirby scored a hat trick in chilly Pocatello. The Wildcats earned a No.2 seed and a bye to the Big Sky Tournament semifinals on Friday, Nov 7 in Missoula.  Standard-Examiner
  • The Utah Mammoth won their seventh straight game after Dylan Guenther broke a tie with 5:36 left on Sunday, beating the Winnipeg Jets 3-2—Logan Cooley and JJ Peterka helped set up the winning play and the team will play Edmonton on Tuesday night.  Standard-Examiner
