BUSINESS NEWS

  • The congressional funding bill that ended the government shutdown this week included a THC cap—one that may ban most hemp products—and industry leaders say it will hurt local hemp businesses, risk a $28 billion industry, and affect nearly 300,000 jobs.  FOX 13 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The new terminal at Ogden-Hinkley Airport is a fresh start that upgrades a 1950s facility with modern features for Breeze Airlines—officials say the improvements will attract more carriers. The project is funded with $4.5 million from the FAA and $1 million from the city, with runway repairs and a future baggage carousel planned to support growth and Olympic overflow needs.  FOX 13 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • ESPN reporter Ryan McGee made a sensitive remark about Joseph Smith while criticizing BYU’s performance last weekend—his joke upset many fans, and he later apologized and removed the comment from the ESPN story.  The Salt Lake Tribune
  • Weber State University dismissed head coach Mickey Mental as his team's performance fell short of expectations—associate head coach Brent Myers now serves as interim coach. The school has begun a national search with a search firm to hire a new coach who can meet competitive standards and understand Utah's local culture.  Standard-Examiner
  • Local high school athletes signed or promised to play Division I sports on Nov. 12 as the early signing period began for many sports & at least 20 local stars joined the move. Football signings will happen in December for early commits and in February for the regular period.  Standard-Examiner
  • Weber State football is set to play the Bengals for the Train Bell Trophy today at 4 p.m. indoors at the ICCU Dome as interim coach Brent Myers guides the team—despite key injuries—to try to rebound after a tough loss in Pocatello.  Standard-Examiner
