- ➤ After a government shutdown that lasted 43 days, the Ogden Mustangs honored veterans and active service members by giving away 400 free tickets at each game and offering free food, challenge coins, and USA bracelets — actions taken during their weekend military appreciation games. The team lost three to two on Friday and won five to one on Saturday against Idaho Falls and remains atop their conference ahead of their Nov. 28 home game. Standard-Examiner
- ➤ Syracuse will host Fremont in a boys basketball opener on Wednesday at 7 p.m.—coach Greg Godderidge, in his second season, will lean on seniors Carter Robinson and Skyler Orton, while Fremont, led by coach Corey Melaney and key starter Zach Hancock, looks to bounce back from a tough season.
