COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A range of events is scheduled across Northern Utah from November 22 to 30; a cyclocross race in Ogden ran on November 22 and a musical of A Christmas Carol started yesterday — with many more markets, sports matches and food tours planned for coming days. Residents can join local gatherings and celebrations — giving everyone plenty of ways to enjoy the season.  Standard-Examiner

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Weber County announced on Thursday it received up to $265,000 from the Utah Department of Environmental Quality to fund a wastewater feasibility study that will begin in early 2026 to improve water quality around Pineview Reservoir in the Ogden Valley—this study will evaluate relocating wastewater from aging septic systems into a centralized sewer facility to protect local water supplies.  Standard-Examiner

SPORTS NEWS

  • Weber State fired its head coach with two games left this season and beat No-23 Northern Arizona 48-28 on Saturday at Stewart Stadium. Running back Spencer Ferguson rushed for 102 yards while interim coach Brent Myers led the team as they adjusted for the final games.  Standard-Examiner
  • Pending weather and conditions, Nordic Valley Ski Resort plans to open to skiers on Dec. 12. Director Katie Gubler said the resort invested over $300,000 in repairs—improving its snow-making system and base area—and will host more outdoor events while expanding its midweek Rookie Sender Program for new skiers.  Standard-Examiner
  • Weber State volleyball swept Montana and Montana State over the weekend to secure the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Big Sky Tournament—setting the stage for a rematch with Montana. The Wildcats ended the regular season at 17—11 overall and will play in the tournament starting Nov. 24.  Standard-Examiner
  • The Roy boys lost to Emery 66-64 at the Ben Lomond Pepsi Tournament in Ogden on November 22, with coach Ryan Hannah & an official briefly exchanging words as both teams played close games.  Standard-Examiner
