CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Former D&RGW No. 133, a 1965-built locomotive that served Ogden rail yards, has been placed on a two-year loan at the Utah State Railroad Museum since Nov. 16; the Promontory Chapter plans to begin its restoration this spring—restoring the original Rio Grande lettering and inspecting its mechanical condition for a return to service while seeking donations and volunteer help. - ➤ A range of holiday events took place or will occur across Northern Utah from November 29 to December 7 – from Ogden’s Radiate Vendor Markets and musical shows at the Egyptian Theater to seasonal celebrations in Brigham City and Salt Lake City. - ➤ UDOT is salting roads for the first snowfall of the year that brings heavy travel today after Thanksgiving. Drivers are told to slow down, keep 300 feet behind plows, and check tire tread for safety—steps aimed at reducing icy and wet spots on the roads. FOX 13 News

- ➤ Bear Bachmeier threw for 289 yards and one touchdown and LJ Martin ran 95 yards for three touchdowns as No. 11 BYU beat UCF 41-21 on November 29th in Provo—securing a spot in the Big 12 championship game while UCF’s Tayven Jackson threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns. FOX 13 News
- ➤ Weber State football received Big Sky Conference honors as seven players were named, with senior Gavin Ortega and junior Montae Pate making the All-Big Sky First Team—Ortega played 41 career games and Pate earned his first all-conference nod with one interception and nine pass breakups. - ➤ Weber State beat Kansas City 82-61 on Nov. 29th at the Dee Events Center in Ogden. Guard Vartiainen scored 17 points and hit key three-pointers — he left the game briefly after a knee check and will have it imaged to ensure he is okay. Standard-Examiner
