Three local events offer holiday cheer this week.

Christmas Village in Municipal Gardens shows lights November 29 to January 2 from 5-10 — Fantasy at the Bay Lights Show lights Willard Bay State Park December 6-24, and the Monster Truck Insanity Next Level Tour runs December 6-7 in Ogden.

Ogden hosts a week full of winter events — Window Wonderland continues downtown and holiday shows such as The Nutcracker and Elf play at local theaters — while markets, food tours and concerts are scheduled across the region through Dec.

The Ogden School Foundation announced that Ann Patchett will headline its 30th Fall Author Event on Oct.

1, 2026. The fundraiser will support classroom grants + include a student writing contest to celebrate three decades of community reading.

Weber State women’s basketball lost 79-72 to North Dakota State Saturday at the Dee Events Center, with Antoniette Emma-Nnopu scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds; the Wildcats will host Montana Western Tuesday.

On Nov. 24, 2025, the Standard-Examiner named its 2025 All-Area Girls Soccer First Team at St. Joseph Catholic High School in Ogden, honoring standout Sofia Evans — who led the state with 56 goals and 131 points — and local Elle Weston, who snapped a school scoring record.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, Ogden girls won at home by beating Orem 52 to 23 with Jill Wood scoring 13 points, while later at the Bear River Winter Classic, Union edged Ogden 58 to 55 (Jackson Maw led for Ogden).

Local Ogden senior forward Megan Beus was named to the 2025 Standard-Examiner All-Area Girls Soccer Second Team, joining standout players recognized for impressive goals and assists from schools across the area.
