COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Friday, Dec. 12, volunteers led by Shar Code and Sandy Shaw stocked the Weber Fridge at 302 28th Street to offer free food access across Ogden amid local food insecurity. About 80 local volunteers keep it clean + running despite federal layoffs and a government shutdown.  The Salt Lake Tribune

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Weber Basin Water Conservancy District said the first three months of the 2025 to 2026 water year were extreme, with record moisture in October but very dry November and December (officials hope increased snowfall from January through March will boost reservoir levels).  Standard-Examiner

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • County officials will use St. Anne's Kitchen at Lantern House as the emergency warming center this winter when temperatures drop to 18° or below. They are still searching for a permanent site and may build a new facility for future winters.  KSL-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Syracuse High edged Box Elder 69 & 66 on Saturday after a 24 & 17 third quarter burst, while in Ogden, Taggart Bush scored 27 points as Taylorsville outpaced Ben Lomond.  Standard-Examiner
  • On Saturday night, the Utah Jazz beat San Antonio 127-114 (snapping the Spurs' eight-game win streak) with 29 points by Markkanen and 28 by George. On Friday, they edged Detroit 131-129 with Keyonte George scoring a floater in the final seconds.  Standard-Examiner
