- ➤ The Utah Avalanche Center warned on Jan. 5 that heavy snowfall and strong winds had created dangerous avalanche conditions across northern Utah and southeastern Idaho (affecting areas like the Wasatch and Bear River Ranges), so backcountry travelers are urged to carry rescue gear and travel with a partner.
