  • Jennifer Lansdowne and her daughter Abbilynn Peterson work at the Ogden Walmart Supercenter on Wall Avenue and share a closer bond as they enjoy their daily routines. Lansdowne left her insurance job during the pandemic to help people in person—Peterson joined her soon after to work as a cashier while studying at Ben Lomond.  Standard-Examiner

CRIME NEWS

  • Three people were arrested in Utah in a five-day FBI operation that rescued over 100 children and made over 200 arrests nationwide — one arrest was the director of a local charter school in Ogden charged with possessing more than 10,000 images of child pornography.  KSL-TV
  • Ogden man Miguel Salgado-Vargas, 73, faces 637 charges after 152 dogs and cats were rescued from his home on Jefferson Avenue where they lived in extremely poor and overcrowded conditions — charges include animal cruelty, public nuisance, failure to obtain rabies vaccinations, and operating an unlicensed kennel.  FOX 13 News

  • Ogden High educator Chris Davidson was named teacher of the year by the Ogden School District on May 7 and was honored with an expense-paid one-year lease of a 2025 Mazda CX-70—an award presented by Young Mazda and the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation.  Standard-Examiner

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Ogden opposed last week's city changes to Gib’s Loop Trail — which would bar social trails onto Mount Ogden Golf Course — saying the new rules are unnecessary. City risk managers noted a trail user was hurt, and the mayor pledged to work with community members to find a solution.  Standard-Examiner
