If you've got a veteran in your life, Layton Hills Mall has a Friday evening for them. The mall is set to host its second Veterans Appreciation Day at 6 p.m. Fri., Nov. 6, in Center Court, and the public is invited. The program also kicks off Trees of Gratitude, where you can write a hero's name on a tag and hang it on a Christmas tree.

Mall marketing manager Glady Larsen told the Standard-Examiner the digital returns at the ceremony. "Our community is so close to Hill Air Force Base that we naturally have them as part of our family," she said. The mall is still seeking names to add.

  • Honor Wall: digital display, on view through Wed., Nov. 11
  • Remarks: Layton Mayor Joy Petro and veteran-serving groups
  • Also: kids' crafts and recruiters from multiple branches
  • Include: full name, branch, years of service; photos encouraged

To add a veteran, email or drop off a name at the Mall Management Office.

Names for the Honor Wall can be dropped off 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
